Door supervisor training course information

To work as a door supervisor anywhere in the UK you will need to have an SIA door supervisors licence. To obtain your licence you will first need to undergo an SIA approved door supervisor training course. There have recently (June 2010) been some important updates to the door supervisor training programme which has seen the introduction of a physical intervention training module.

To achieve a nationally recognised qualification in door supervision which is approved by the SIA you will need to attend the following modules

Training modules
Common module: Working in the private security industry

    * Session 1: The Private security industry and the law surrounding it
    * Session 2: Health & Safety for door supervisors
    * Session 3: Fire Safety for door supervisors
    * Session 4: Security emergency procedures
    * Session 5: The Private Security Industry, working in
    * Session 6: Customer care and communication


Door supervision module

    * Session 1: Behavioural Standards for door supervisors
    * Session 2: Civil and criminal law
    * Session 3: Searching
    * Session 4: Arrest
    * Session 5: Drugs awareness
    * Session 6: Recording incidents and crime scene preservation
    * Session 7: Licensing law for door supervisors
    * Session 8: Emergency procedures

Conflict management

    * Session 1: Personal risk, avoiding and reducing
    * Session 2: Defusing Conflict and reducing aggression
    * Session 3: Resolving and Learning from Conflict incidents
    * Session 4b: Application of Communication Skills and Conflict Management specific to the security industry

Physical intervention

    * Session 1: Introduction to Physical Skills for the security industry
    * Session 2: Disengagement Techniques(break away)
    * Session 3: Escorting Technique, restrictive and non restrictive for door supervisors.
