Job description
Working as a security supervisor or team leader can be a good step
towards the role of a manager. Normal duties included in this role
include that of a security officer guard and additional duties including:
Monitoring security officers and their daily activities
Organising daily duties such as unlocks and patrols
Motivating staff
Completing paperwork such as time sheets
In some security companies it can be quite normal for a supervisor
to cover several small sites which have a lone security guard working on
site. This not only allows the company to cover a wider area but also
helps to fulfill the company's health and safety obligations under the
Health and Safety at Work Act. When this practice is undertaken a
company may equip the security supervisor with a marked vehicle for
transportation. Supervisor training is also often supplied alongside any
supervisor job as it helps ensure the supervisors actions stay within
the current employment legislation.
What do you need
Ideally you will have security experience and a great level of customer
service. You may have to liaise with customers and handle any complaints
or requests they have. Diplomacy and a motivated attitude towards the
job are almost certainly required for this role.
